Ecological Integrity and a Sustainable Society Conference

The Global Ecological Integrity Group and the Elizabeth May Chair in Sustainability and Environmental Health at Dalhousie University are hosting an interdisciplinary conference which will focus on the role that ecological integrity plays in achieving health, global justice and a sustainable society. This conference will take place June 24-29, 2007, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. For more information view their call for papers.

13th International Interdisciplinary Conference on the Environment

The Interdisciplinary Environmental Association (IEA) invites you to participate in the 13th International Interdisciplinary Conference on the Environment. The conference is motivated by the increasing need to combine ideas and research findings from different disciplines to enhance our understanding of the interactions between the natural environment and human institutions. This year's conference will be held from June 30 - July 3, 2007 in Portland, Maine. The deadline to submit abstracts for the conference is May 18, 2007. 17th World Conference on Disaster Management

The 17th World Conference on Disaster Management allows participants to get a truly global perspective on the changing face of disaster management. This conference provides a venue for disaster management professionals from around the world to present, network and learn. Professionals from all fields of disaster management are welcome: Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Emergency Response, Risk Management, IT Disaster Recovery, Emergency Health, or other related Disaster Management disciplines. 6th International NCCR Climate Summer School: Land Surface- Atmosphere Interactions in a Changing Climate

The NCCR Climate, Switzerland's Centre of Excellence in Climate and Climate Impact Research, is inviting young scientists to join leading climate researchers on the occasion of the 6th NCCR Climate Summer School 2007. The topics covered will include: Overview of land surface-atmosphere interactions; Climate change- impacts and feedbacks; Land use and land use change; Human - environment interface. The event will take place August 26- 31, 2007, in Grindelwald, Switzerland. More information is available online.

The 3rd Australia-New Zealand Climate Change & Business Conference

The Climate Change and Business Conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia, on August 30-31, 2007. The conference will focus on the impact of climate change on businesses, especially in terms of risks and opportunities. The conference will have a strong focus on adaptation and will provide specific examples of new business opportunities and how business can manage the risks arising from climate change. DISCCRS III Symposium

DISCCRS is an interdisciplinary initiative for recent Ph.D. graduates dealing with climate change and its Impacts. This year's symposium will be held on Hawai'i Island, September 10 - 17, 2007. Funding is provided for symposium airfare, housing and meals. Application deadline is April 30, 2007. For more information please check the website.

Climate Change: Science, Politics and the Management of Uncertainty

A Partnership of the 21st Century Trust, the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This conference will use a scenario-building approach to try to examine different outcomes in the areas of science, politics and risk management in order to help participants better grasp the nature of the long-term challenge which will face us over the coming decades. A Climate of Change

The Canadian Dam Association (CDA) 2007 Annual Conference will be held this year in St. John's, NF on September 22-27, 2007. The focus of this year's conference will be on the evolving environmental, social, economic, and regulatory climates that Canadians specializing in dams have to contend with today and tomorrow. This will include the impact of climate change on dams. More information is available online.

The 8th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment

The National Council for Science and the Environment is planning a large interactive conference to develop and advance science-based solutions to climate change. "Climate Change: Science and Solutions" will explore approaches to climate stabilization, minimization, mitigation and adaptation. Workshops, breakout sessions, and symposia that propose solutions to climate change and ways to implement the solutions will all be included as part of the conference. These sessions will provide opportunities for institutions, organizations, and individuals to contribute ideas and innovations, visionary concepts, successful models and prototypes, and pragmatic recommendations on moving forward on solutions to climate change. International Symposium on Flood Defense

The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) plans to host the next International Symposium on Flood Defense in Toronto, Ontario on May 14-16, 2008. The event will focus on the management of flood risk, reliability and vulnerability. For more information please visit their website.
